Where the data in a Certcar report comes from.
A Certcar report can bring together information from several public and commercial sources. The available data is organised in a clear format so the history of a car is easier to understand.
Information from several categories of sources
Certcar does not rely on a single database. For every VIN, several categories of available information are consulted.
Damage events, repair estimates and photos of the vehicle, when available.
Service entries, work carried out and mileage values recorded at different points in time.
Photos, descriptions and information from previous sales or listings of the vehicle.
Technical data, factory configuration, commercial use, recall campaigns and other information linked to the VIN.
How the information reaches the report
The VIN is used to identify the model and the available configuration.
The system searches for information linked to the vehicle across several categories of data.
The records found are grouped so the car's history is easier to follow.
The data is shown in a report that is easy to review before buying.
Coverage differs from one car to another
The amount of available information depends on the countries where the vehicle was used, its age and how events were recorded. Two similar cars can have different reports. The absence of a record does not prove that the event never happened.
The check does not stop at the country you buy from
A car can be built, registered, repaired and sold in different countries. The report checks the information available for the VIN, including records from other markets the vehicle passed through.
Limitations and responsibility
The report reflects the information available at the time it is generated. Not all damage, repairs, mileage readings or service work are recorded in the sources consulted. The Certcar report does not replace a physical inspection, a diagnosis, a test drive or checking the car's original documents.
International coverage
Over 40 countries. One check.
The Certcar report can include information from Europe, North America and other international markets where the vehicle was registered, used, repaired or sold.
Availability of information differs by vehicle, country and type of record. A country being covered does not guarantee that data exists for every VIN.
