What is worth checking on a used Ford

Timing belt on certain EcoBoost engines

Some versions use a wet timing belt that runs in oil. Check the oil change history, the specification used and the recommended replacement interval for that engine.

PowerShift transmission operation

Behaviour and maintenance differ by version. On the test drive, watch for hesitation, vibrations or abrupt shifts and check the repair history.

Diesel engine emission systems

For TDCi engines, check the history of the DPF, EGR and AdBlue systems, where available, especially if the car was mostly used in the city.

Note: the Certcar report checks the information available in the vehicle history. To assess the current mechanical condition, we also recommend an inspection at an authorised workshop.

Frequently asked questions

Can I check an imported Ford?

Yes. The report can contain information available from Romania and from other countries where the vehicle was registered or used.

Does the report show the original equipment of a Ford?

If available for the VIN entered, the report can show information about the factory configuration and equipment.

Can the report tell me whether the EcoBoost engine or the PowerShift gearbox has problems?

The report can include service entries and recorded interventions, but it cannot diagnose the current mechanical condition. That requires a check at a workshop.

Is the service history included?

The report shows the service records available for the vehicle. The amount of information differs depending on the car and the available sources.

Can I check a Ford Transit or a commercial vehicle?

Yes. The VIN can also be checked for Ford commercial models, and the report will show the available information about their history.
